i'm preaching this sunday at a church called mt. olympus presbyterian. it starts at 6:45 pm and it's a really great service. really laid back.
i'm teaching on isaiah 5 where basically the writer compares the people of israel to a vineyard. God (the owner of the vineyard in this story) puts in all the work, and does everything the right way and ends up with stinky grapes (literally the word in hebrew is the same word that describes a pile of dead, rotting bodies) that can't possibly be made into wine (yes kiddos, everyone drank wine back then and it wasn't even grape juice - also: jesus isn't white).
this would be enough to teach on right here except that we are today still dealing with the same problem as the nation of israel. God tells us what to do and how to do it and we basically give him the finger and go our own way. not exactly the most fun thing to preach at someone else's church.
